Las Vegas Extravaganza

On 6th June 2013 the Morris team travelled over to The Queens Hotel in Leeds for a Las Vegas Extravaganza event which involved a drinks reception, a three-course banquet, entertainment and a disco.

At 6pm they arrived at the venue and were greeted by the very friendly staff at the hotel, the rooms were spacious and airy and gave a great view of City Square in Leeds. There was just time for a cup of tea and a quick shower before it was time for the drinks reception in the Ballroom Foyer which can hold up to 300 guests. Champagne was handed out throughout the reception with some amazing canapés running alongside including duck spring rolls and a cauliflower pastry. There was lots of networking happening between executives from The Queens Hotel, other agents and various corporates.

At 8pm the team were welcomed to The Queens Ballroom which can hold up to 280 guests in cabaret style and the entire room was transformed into a Las Vegas Extravaganza, there was a free standing Marilyn Monroe cut out as well as 6ft golden dollar signs. The stage was dazzling with white lights on the back drop and the black and white chequered dance floor complimented the stage well.

There was plenty of wine to go around the table and the starter arrived shortly after, asparagus wrapped in ham hock with mushrooms and herb jelly on the side, all very tasty and left the team excited for the main meal. The main meal was succulent chicken and herb filled mashed potato with a healthy portion of vegetables. Last but not least was the summer pudding dessert – zesty and delicious.

At 9.30pm the plates had been cleared and the jazz band was playing which kept the mood vibrant and classy, the band had a very similar feel to Michael Bublé. In the adjacent room there were poker tables which proved very popular with the diners wanting to try their luck! The disco came round with lots of 1980’s classics and current chart records which made way for the merry dancers.

A great time was had by all and the whole trip was finished off by breakfast at The Queen’s Hotel which set the team up for the working day ahead. The trip was a great starting point for our new team member Zoe, who is looking forward to many more venue site visits in the future.
